How to Participate in the Auction

The Charity Art Auction is being run in two parts: a Live Auction and an online Silent Auction.

All works can be viewed online from 16th May 2016 on

The Live Auction event will take place Saturday 28th May 2016, at Pah Homestead TSB Bank Wallace Arts Centre, 72 Hillsborough Road, Auckland, 6.30 – 8.30pm.

Artworks for both silent and live auctions will be available for viewing from 6.30pm.

Please RSVP and register to bid to receive a bidder’s card, which is required for participation in the live auction.

For those wishing to register on the night, we advise that they arrive 15-20 mins prior to the auction commencing.

For those who wish to participate in the live auction but cannot attend in person, there are two methods by which they may do so remotely:

Telephone bidders are welcome to bid on either single or multiple lots.  In order to bid by telephone, buyers are required to register prior to the day of the auction – either via the online registration form or by email

Registration for telephone bidding closes 5.00pm Friday 27th May.

Absentee bids are an alternative method of remote participation to phone bidding.  The placing of an ‘absentee bid’ entails a buyer specifying the maximum hammer price that they wish to pay for a given lot.  This absentee bid will be execute by the auctioneer, who will bid on the buyer’s behalf until their maximum price is exceeded.  Auctioneer Charles Ninow of Bowerbank Ninow will always act in good faith for absentee bidders and will endeavour to secure items on which they bid for the lowest possible price.  We are able to arrange absentee bidding by telephone, email orin person.

Bids for the Live Auction placed online through are considered to be absentee bids and will be treated in the manner above.
