Brain Day 2014

Brain Day is run by the Centre for Brain Research at The University of Auckland. This year the event was focussed on your Sense-ational brain, encouraging people to try different activities to enrich their environment and keep their brains active. On Saturday March 29, Spark Director Suzanne Vesty and Tutor Ian Moore attended the day to spend time chat-ting to people about the work we do here at Spark, with particular focus on Leading a Creative Life, the art therapy class for those who have suffered a stroke.

Many people who spoke to Spark were curious to know whether you needed to have previous interest or experience in art to participate, Suzanne and Ian reassured them that this was not the case; when people engage with materials and the art making process they find the magic of creative expression and art making regularly becomes an important corner-stone in their life.
