A Thousand Stories was a huge success last night. Thank you to everyone who came along and supported this charity art auction. You’ve all helped to change and improve people’s lives. A huge thanks to the many leading contemporary NZ artists who donated their incredible artworks. It’s impossible to convey our gratitude on Instagram but this couldn’t have happened without you and we’ll always be immensely thankful. The aim was to raise money to support our artists now and into the future, and the sum raised far exceeded our expectations. Gow Langsford Gallery organised and curated the auction and we are extremely grateful to John Gow and his team for everything they did and accomplished. Thank you to Pene Hemes from Giltrap Audi for hosting the event in the very stylish Audi showroom in Great North Road. Thank you Rotary Club of Epsom for your invaluable support. Ben Plumbly from Art + Object was the auctioneer on the night and the sense of drama he conveyed through wielding the hammer and increasing the bids was cinematic. Thanks so much for the excitement. A special thanks to Ian Cheesman. Iain not only donated a fantastic work, Bird Watcher Watcher, he hung the show and it look wonderful. Iain puts so much time and effort into hanging our exhibitions and we’re very grateful. And thank you to the Māpura artists. It was great to see a lot of you at the auction; your work sold well and commanded some excellent prices. There will be works from many leading New Zealand contemporary artists under the hammer, including Sara Hughes, John Pule, Jacqueline Fahey, Judy Miller, Max Gimblett and Dick Frizzell, as well as a silent auction featuring works by our own extraordinary artists.
