It’s National Volunteer Week!
Today we’re shining a light on the wonderful Annabel McKinnon!
Annabel has been volunteering at our Morningside studio for about a year, supporting our Monday and Tuesday morning classes with kindness, creativity, and care.
Currently in her third year of a Master’s in Creative Arts Therapy at Whitecliffe, Annabel brings her studies to life at Māpura — blending her passion for art with a commitment to working in the disability sector.
She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Art from AUT, and paints in her spare time… when she gets some!

When we asked how she finds Māpura, Annabel said: “I love it, it’s great. I’ve made so many new friends, it’s awesome.”
And our artists think Annabel’s awesome too
We’re celebrating our incredible volunteers all week – we couldn’t do what we do without you!
